Water's Edge Church

FAQs:

Are you a non-denominational church?

We are a part of the Reformed Church of America (RCA).  You can learn more about the RCA by visiting their website at www.rca.org.

What does that mean?  What is the RCA?

The RCA formed out of the Protestant Reformation, of which Martian Luther played a significant roll.  You can read more about that and the RCA beginnings through these resources.

So what does the RCA believe?

Great question!  In brief, we believe that the Bible is the final word and authority of God; all that we need for instruction for life and salvation.  The Bible tells us that we are saved only by God's grace which He extends to us through Jesus Christ.  Nothing we can do will make up for the payment we owe to God for all our sins against Him.  Our only hope is to accept the sacrifice that Christ made on our behalf.

We practice baptism and the celebration of the "Lord's Supper" or "Communion."  We also have several creeds that we recite or refer to from time to time which are summarized statements of Christian faith.  Though the ones we use are longer, a simple example of a creed statement would be "I believe the Bible is the authoritative word of God" or "I believe Jesus died and rose to life again."  You can read more about these and our denominational belief system here.
